We all have heard the statistics. Turkey, third is the largest country in the world in term of Facebook users. First country in the world in terms of social media engagement.
Everyone is talking about it but very few, if nobody, is getting it right.
Kadir Topbas, the Mayor of Istanbul, is one of those who is experiencing first hand the impact of social media onto a politician’s image today.
Early morning, a group of animal activists members of Let’s Adopt, tired of the poisoning campaigns and the atrocities committed all around Istanbul decided to send a clear message to the Mayor.
And what better way to do so that leaving him a note on the Mayor’s Facebook Page and Group?

Mayhem followed.. Hundreds of people, leaving messages onto the Facebook Wall of Istanbul’s Mayor. The messages are not kind, many of them are in Turkish and the wave of indignation is spreading across Europe and America as we speak. Everyone is sharing the campaign on Facebook and Friendfeed.
The Press, specially in-tune with social media nowadays has picked up on the issue. The Istanbul Municipality is busy now preparing a Press Statement.
Total ridicule. A PR disaster.
Times have changed. Social Media is changing the business AND political landscape.
Will old-style politicians manage to understand that the social media revolution is all about?
Time will tell.. personally I doubt it.

first comes press release and then notice of appearance. this is what they understand from democracy and free speech.
Why don’t you begin acting like one of God’s creatures and treat these poor animals as was intended. The treatment and poisoning of animals is an embarrassment to your country. Compassion is what you should be teaching your children. May God have mercy on your soul when you pass over the rainbow bridge.
Why don`t stop the massacre of this beautiful animals , we all have the same god , human and animals !

GOD help you when it’s your turn…The things you are doing to these beautiful animals is a shame!! Were you raised by the DEVIL himself? You have no morals or shame..and you are embarassing your country!! Every country has a few people like you, but not in a Government position..Just inhuman people that will probably end up in the same place you are going, and it won’t be to HEAVEN>!!!
I just read an email from one of the other Animal Rights group where it reported that about 10 or 11 dogs were being at a holding station, but that the workers decided to “wash out and clean” the kennels by hosing down both the kennels and the Dogs! As a result, the poor dogs began to shiver in the brutal cold, their thin skins coated in ice from the water, the poor dogs slowly died of hypothermia and pneumonia.
It’s amazing how The Walking Human Skins always manage to find new ways of getting rid of a “problem”, and it always ends in pain, agony and death to those who are so Innocent and Helpless. Sometimes I just hate being Human!
This is the legacy and continuing insanity and misery that “people” like Kadir Topbas are continuing to cause, and they enjoy it because they can! They answer to no one, nor are they afraid of any “superior” or “boss” who would admonish or punish them for what they do, because those “decision-makers” are even More corrupt and More dead than their “underlings”. As long as the “dead” money continues to come into their pockets, they don’t have to care about any living thing, except their bellies and pockets.
If it weren’t for people like Victor Larkhill and others like him, I would really look forward to the end of “Man”.

What an embarrassment you are not only as a top representative of your country, but also to the rest of the world!
When you’re allowing such barbaric and atrocious treatment of these sentient and innocent beings, than that shows what kind of a human-being you are. I’m sure you would turn your eyes to the pillage and rape of innocent children and women too.
I agree. I would look forward to the end of MAN too if all that was left was people hurting animals!
The kind and compassionate people of Turkey who are progressive and caring don’t deserve to be represented by such trash as Kadir Topbas. Thanks to people like Viktor Larkhill and others, I know how many good people there are over there and that politicians like Topbas don’t represent everyone. I hope he is thoroughly exposed in the Turkish media for his cruel animal extermination policies. The animal lovers of the world are watching you Mr. Topbas and we don’t like what we see.
Will you start taking your responsibilities towards the most fragile among your citizens, I mean the stray animals in your town? Will you stop the indifferent and cruel behaviour and punish abuse? Will you learn compassion and respect for any life to the kids in your city? This is a vow we’ve made for the New Year. Don’t disappoint us.

Education to civilization should be the number one priority in a country and this mainly includes the act to love, care and cherish the weak ones.
I was under the impression that being mercyful it is in your culture and religion.
Closing our eyes and ears to what is happening around us especially if someone is on power make them as guilty as the ones that commits the crimes.
With all my heart i pray to Mother Earth to store -and she shall store- the same end to those that commit crimes against our fellow, friends, arkadaslar sweet animals.

Bu sene Nisan ayında, yeni belediye başkanı masasına oturmaden önce ilk zehirlemeleri başlattılar. Bunun belediye tarafından yapıldığını nasıl biliyorum diye sorarsanız, 5 senden beri beslediğim harika bir köpeği aynı şekilde zehirlemeye kalkışmışlar. Şans eseri iğnenin ucu kırılarak zehirin vücuduna yayılması engellenmiş. Bu iğne ucunu ameliyatla sol göğüs kafesinin altından çıkarttırdım. O delil halen elimde, çünkü bir tek Alanya’da öyle bir tabanca mevcut. Ama mahalesef Eylül ayında halen turistler varken belediyenin zabıtayla birlikte gece operasyonlarına şahit oldum. Ve benim köpek 10 dakika içerisinde aynı yöntemle bu sefer zehirlendi. Eski belediye başkanı Şefik Türktaş ile bir çok görüşmelerim oldu ve onun döneminde bize elinden geldiği kadar destek oldu, oturduğum beldede son 2 sene hiç zehirlenme vakaları yoktu. Oysa yeni belediye başkanı meğer sokak hayvanlarını zehirlemeğe çok meraklıymış, yapmadık yaptırmadık dese bile, suçluları tanıdğı halde niye soruşturma yapmıyor? Bu nedenle suç ortağı olmuş oluyor. Avrupa birliğinden gelen paralar sokakhayvanlarını kısırlaştırmak ve aşılama amacıyla düzenli bir şekilde belediye kasalarına giriyor. Ama harcamalar sadece zehirler için oluyor. AK Parti yada başka bir partiden herkes müslümanız diye göğüslerini geriyorlar, ama hiç kimse kusuruma bakmasın. Kuran’ı Kerimi hiçbiri anlamamış. Bırak kutsal kitapları bu yaşa gelmişler insan olamaya gayret bile göstermemişler. Biliyorum yazdıklarım çok ağır, ama insan hayatını hiçe sayan siyasetçiler oturdukları sandalyeyi bile hak etmiyorlar. Ve seçim öncesi oy dilencileri gibi kapı kapı dolaşırken ve onları seçen vatandaşlar onların verdiklere sözlere güvenerek o masada oturuyorlar. Ama bu amaçlarına ulaştıkları zaman hemen unutuveriyorlar.
Türkiye’de 8 sene içinde sadece kendi çevremdeki 56 kedi ve 6 köpeğin feci bir şekilde acı çekerek öldüklerini bilmek ve birtanseini görmek bana yetti, buradaki ağır yazdıklarımın içimdeki acının bir gramını bile ifade edemez.
Siyasetçiler ister olumlu veya olumsuz olsun hakkınızda yazılan veya söylenenleri bile hakkınızda yapılan reklam olarak görüyorsunuz. Şimdiye kadar ses çıkarmadık derseniz, çoğumuz tehdit altında olsa bile bu hayvanlara sahip çıkacağız. Onları korumak için ses çıkarmıyor olabiliriz, tek isteğimiz onlara dokunmayın, onlara zarar vermeyin, gelin birlikte bu Allah’ın yarattığı sevgiyi sizde görün ve yaşayın. Hatta iddaa bile edebilirim, onlar bazı insanlardan bile daha minnettar ve sadıktırlar. Eğer Allah’ a inanıyorsanız, ozaman onun boşuboşuna hayvanları yaratmadığınıda görebilirsiniz.
